March 18th

this morning in Green Fab
  • we learned how to power an LED, a Lazer light, and a buzzer
  • we used an Arduino to power a bread board instead of batteries.
  • we did this by connecting a USB to the Arduino then connecting power and ground wires to the arduino and the bread board.
  • we did this by connecting the power wire (red) to slot 13 and a ground wire (black) to the ground slot.
  • then we attached a button by putting the red leg in power and the black leg in the middle of the bread board. Then we connected a green wire from the digital side of the arduino to the same row that the button was in.

this afternoon in Green Fab

  • we got partnered up and went outside.
  • then we each got three trees (per partnership) and made measurements for the trees.
  • measurements such as the distance between trees, the distance form the middle of the sidewalk to the center of the tree, and how thick the curb was.
  • i did the measurements while my partner sketched. She had to sketch things such as the trees and draw the measurements that i took, on the paper exactly in which direction and location that i took them in.
  • then we had fun in a park across the street, my friend challenged me to a free-running contest and i won.
