4/14/11

This morning we had to chose chores that we did not like to do around the house. Then james number them and we had to pick a paper out the box with a number on it and we got number two which was washing the dishes. We had to design a product machine that would make washing dishes easy. My group came up of of a idea where its a box and you open it up an place the dishes in and there a hole at the top of it where you put the water and soap , then you close it and there a button on the side where you push and watch your dishes because sparkly clean. then there would be a light that lights up that lets you know when your done. In the afternoon we had free lab so i create two chains of a cartoon charters that i like.

4/14/11

  • This morning we did a dream project.
  • We made sketch of a machine we would use in real life.
  • Me and my partner Brandon made a sneaker beaker which is a machine that ties your shoelaces.
  • We also drew the machines inputs and outputs.
  • Also we presented what we did to the other interns like if we were part of a commercial.

  • This afternoon we looked for what kind of final projects we should do
  • I found a Mario coin box to make.
  • I also saw a Youtube video of it.

4/14/11

Morning.
  • Today we used a program called scratch.
  • In scratch we learned about variables.
  • We made a game that was made out of our own creations and made points and lives.
  • We also learned on how to interact with our figures and a way to keep score.
  • After that Jose said we could just chill till we were ready to go to lunch.
Afternoon
  • In the afternoon was open lab.
  • I made two laser cuts of a sign that said 500.
  • After that I just waited till it was time to write our blogs.
  • And that is what i did in green-fab today.

4/14

This morning I came in a little late but when I got here, everyone was working on creating a sketch of a machine that has not yet been created, using our imagination. My group made a box that holds dishes and washes them. This afternoon everyone basically finished up their tree guards and had free time. That's all that happened today.

4-14

: This morning we did a design exercise : It was a dream project exercise : My teammate Yeltsy and I made something called the " sneaker beacker " : The sneaker beacker was a machine that was attached to your sneaker and tied it for you : After that we had to have a show and tell of some sort : This afternoon we had a Open lab : Victor and I made a chain : After Victor helped with the chain it was kind of a layed back day

April 14,2011 thursday

We the morning, we used the program scratch. I learned how to make the characters disappear when my main sprite(character) touched them. I also learned how to put points and lives on the screen. My main character was a purple dot and the sub-characters were a soccer ball,a drum, a dotted ball and a dinosaur. There was one character a bat that if my purple dot touched it it would simulate losing a life. That would make my life count go down.

In the afternoon, we worked on our final projects or ideas for our final projects rather. I'm still unsure what mine will be. We were assigned to instructors, mine was Andrew. James put his email on the board in case we needed materials.

4-14-11

Morning *We continued and learn new things about scratch *We made objects appear and disappear from the screen *We also made different objects chase other objects *We have learned over the past sessions to move, rotate, glide, color and make characters *Also we can make sounds and beats to put in the background Afternoon *We worked on different things like projects suc as the tree guard designs and final projects *Some brainstormed about projects and others had an idea but had to get the materials *We also were split into groups so there would be enough amount of students for each mentor

4-12-11

  • In the morning we worked on combination lock that use multiple digital inputs.
  • Then we hook up to the voltage to the individual  swiches
  • Then we hooked up with the arduino
  • Each switch connection between hooked up with resistors
  • Then we attach with individual wires, then we cleaned up.
  evening section
  • we get together for having our mentors
  • then we had a sketch to measure to see how it will work if i put any kind of design
  •   then i measured with a ruler so see how many inches it will be  so then i  think about a design that will to look nice.
  • then i start cutting the gold wires in a same size of it then made a u size of it and also i made holes in the board with a pen then i start put it in .
  • in the end i put hot glue on it around the u size of shapes.

4/12

So today we worked on a combination lock project where we set up multiple switches that control an LED light. For this project we created a sketch with more than one digital input. After lunch, I worked on creating a scaled model of a tree guard. The first step was getting measurments for the display. The second step was to scale the measurements, the final scale model size is 4.5" x 2.5" x 3" . We cut them out of cardboard. The next thing I have to do is put my design and glue it together and then im done. :)

4-12-11

Morning
-Looked at Shoes
-Looked at hats

  • I started to cut open the holes for the top of my tree guard.

April 12th

Today in Green Fab

  • we talked about trying to make a combination lock using the arduino

  • we used a four button switch

  • then we went on arduino on the computer and made our own code

  • we set it up so that if certain switches were activated and others weren't than the LED would light up

  • if the combination is changed or disturbed in any way the LED would turn off.

This Afternoon in Green Fab

  • we continued working on our tree guards

  • i finished making the representation of my scale model tree guard.

  • when i was done i had to glue the four pieces together to make a 3 dimensional model

  • i did this by a half inch scale so in normal size it would be 3 by 2 feet

  • but in scale size it's 3 by 2 inches.

04/12/11

  • we start on the scratch program
  • Jose taught us how to create games using the scratch program
  • Jose created his own game to show us an example of how to control the motions
  • I tried to create an game but it was too difficult
  • i create another animation of a car driving in the street
Afternoon
  • we were put in our previous groups and continue our tree block projects
  • Andrew make us come up with measurements to fit around the trees we created
  • Then Andrew cut out the pieces to make the tree guards using laser cutter and the measurements i came up with
  • Then i had to put the pieces together using the hot glue gun
  • Then i put the tree guard around the tree i created

4/12/11

  • In the morning we work on the arduino to make combination lock to make the led light up.
  • We used a dip switch for this process and a breadboard , some wire and a arduino.
  • The first step was to put the dip switch in the breadboard and hook it up to power it.
  • the second step was hoking the dip switch to the arduino and a pulldown resistor, then we hook up the wires to the pins on the arduino. i picked 2,3,4,5.
  • Then last we had to create out code so that when we pulled the switches up the led would turn on .
This is the code we made.
/*
Button

Turns on and off a light emitting diode(LED) connected to digital
pin 13, when pressing a pushbutton attached to pin 7.

The circuit:
* LED attached from pin 13 to ground
* pushbutton attached to pin 2 from +5V
* 10K resistor attached to pin 2 from ground

* Note: on most Arduinos there is already an LED on the board
attached to pin 13.

{
// turn LED on:
digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH);
}
else {
// turn LED off:
digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW);
}
}

  • In the afternoon we again worked on out models for the tree guards.
  • I did not have a model so i had to sketch ideas of what i want my tree guard to look like.
  • I then made three models , one with just a cube shape tree guard, the other with just a box shape , and the last one looked like a crown.
  • I had picked the crown shape one that i would put some type of wire on the top that puts the crown shape boards together and circles around the tree.
  • Next class i have to laser cut it out and put it together and put it around a tree model we have made and then our tree models will be done.

  • We had to re-create them to scale.
  • I made a bracelet out of the copper string.
  • We brainstormed on final projects
  • Later I helped clean up the room.

4/11/11

  • This morning we worked with the Arduino.
  • We made a combination lock project.
  • We used a 4 composite toggle switch.
  • we used the Arduino program and wrote the whole code by ourselves.
  • We had trouble with the code because we forgot to close brackets.
  • This afternoon we continued working on our tree guards design.
  • I scaled my tree guard to 1 2/3 inches.
  • I used a cardboard box, box cutter, ruler, and a hot glue gun.
  • I tried to switch my design to a rectangular form but soon found out it had many faults.
  • What I'm going to do next is alter my tree guard to a different design.

4/11/11

Morning

  • This morning we continued to work on scratch and do designs
  • we also learned some new things like how to move the characters and to turn them.
  • My character was a PACMAN figure chasing around the gooey little creature around the scratch draw board.
  • I had no background for my scratch board but i did make my PACMAN go insane and try to make sound effects.
  • My character flew from side to side and also glided to the only background i had which i called bloody ville.
Afternoon
  • We also talked about continuing our tree designs/surveying
  • Some of my classmates did there tree designs and others thought or started to do there final projects.
  • What i still have my idea of making a 3d model of the museum of natural history.
  • Then when we split up into our groups with me, Salim and Anthony.
  • I made a 3d model of my treeguard and I also had a tough time making it because i kept burning my hand and almost started bleeding.
  • My 3d model took me at least one hour and a half to make.
  • Finally we cleaned up all the materials and picked up the garbage off the floor and waited for it was time to go.

4-11

: This morning we made a combination lock with arduino, also a breadboard and an LED
: Technically we didn't make a combination lock we just used a 4 position toggle switch
: A 4 position toggle switch is a box switch with 4 little triggers/switches on it
: We used this switch to light up the LED
: If switches 1 & 2 were pushed up then the LED would turn on
: We could have also changed it so that another 2 switches would turn on the LED

: This afternoon we worked in groups again
: We continued working on the tree guard design challenge
: This time we had to make scaled models with our tree guards included
: I kind of figured my tree guard wouldn't work so I used a regular box shaped tree guard
: Paul helped with this challenge

-today April 11th combination lock project with Lori was difficult
-we used arduino in order to create a combination for the lock
-we used leds , wires , resistor and a 4 position toggle switch
-we used the toggle switch in order to verify our combination
-we completed the task using the arduino codes to make the combination lock and unlock

afternoon class
-today in the afternoon class carlos presented the continuation of tree gaurd challege
-i finished my prototype in order to present a scale model
-i measured and scaled my prototype in order to connect it with a completed scaled model
-i have to put more work into it to make it efficient for the environment
-in the end my idea is good but the tree guard is not yet completed

4-11-11

- i came in a little late but they didn't start until i get there.
- we made a combination lock.
- we used arduino boards , wires, and a computer.
- we learned how to control the light to go on and off.
- at first it was working because i had a wire the wrong way.

-we continued our tree guard project.
-the goal for today was to make scale models for our designs.
- i measured my site model to figure out how big to make my tree guard model.
- the i laser cut peaces for my tree guard model.
- then i assembled the tree guard on the site model and it looked nice.

Moring Section
  • we talked about sound what it is it vibrates when we put it on our ear,or we use a speaker it vibrates as well.
  • we took a arduino and have the ground and power wires connected and also put in the board the photocell light sencor and resistor we made sounds.
  • then we use a flash light and put it in the board to hear all different kind of sounds, that each students had on their boards.
  • then we lisened some african music by fela kuti to entertain our self also do the works at the same time.
  • In the end of the day al and juan came to talk we were being loud in the hall way coz other people were complaining how loud we were so we had a conversation about it.
Evening section

  • i had to tell james what i want to do on my final project i told him.so me and james collect all the materials to have the board together and to see if it works
  • then it didn't works for fews times then james has to look for the right number and everything. to works properly
  • then i had to think see if in my board the board pin number is right or wrong.i checked it worked.
  • then i think about it how to put in my room that arduino alerm board.
  • i cleaned up and put it in my bin so i could work it next week.

April 8th

This morning in Green Fab.

  • we connected a speaker to an arduino

  • then we connected a bread board to the arduino

  • we then connected a photosensor.

  • we connected it so that everytime you put the photo sensor in the shade the speaker would lower the volume

  • when you put more light on it the speaker would get louder.

This afternoon in Green Fab

  • we had open lab again

  • this means we get to work on whatever we want

  • i made a speaker using a power and ground wire.

  • a soldering iron, a weller, and some soldering wire.

  • then i put on some music and connected the speaker and IT WORKED!!!

april 8

Today in Jaymes' class we......

  • I wanted to learn how to make beats
  • To make beats we have to connect the speaker up to the bread board
  • To hook the speaker, we had to rewire all of the things and add some new wires
  • Then we had to hook it up to the arduino
  • Then after getting everything connected we got it to work. To make the sound different we had to run a flash light thought it and it would change the sound

In the afternoon

  • we had open lab
  • I started to finish the project I started with the green roof
  • While using inkscape, we got to see what the people would look like
  • Then using the laser cutter, we cut out the people that we need to make the tree guard
  • Then we played hide and go seek

04/8/11

  • we started on the scratch program
  • we had to follow Jose instructions on how to use the program
  • i made my own cartoon but just one scene
  • then i played other games made from the program
  • after i made another little motion picture
Afternoon

  • we had open lab so we could work on anything we want to work on
  • i continued my tree guard design project
  • i went on the Google sketch program and created a model of how i want my tree guard to look
  • i made an whole design of an house with all details of the inside and outside
  • then i played a few games from the scratch program that other people that visited the site made

4/8/11

  • this morning we tried to finish reviewing the the program scratch
  • i still don't want to use this program
  • i don't see any reason for me use this program in the future
  • i keep arguing with Jose because i didn't want to do this program
  • before lunch Juan and Al spoke with us about the loud noise we make in the hallway

  • this afternoon i didn't do much work
  • all i did was sit on the computer and goof off
  • i looked at the new sneakers that were coming out
  • i went on Facebook and started with a bunch of people
and now I'm doing my blog so i can hurry up and leave here

Morning

*We worked on scratch and played with sprites

*We also made our own characters and imported some images

*The mentor discussed how to design the background and to add effects

*The effects contain the image moving around and turning

*You can also add some sound effects like beats, horns, animals and other creatures

Afternoon

*We talked about final projects and discussed some ideas we could do

* my final project is to finish my old project called an arduino fortune teller

*I uploaded some pictures of what my friend and what i did on scratch

*I asked the mentor if i could use the laser cutter but other people were waiting for it before me

*Afterwards i posted my pics and started to clean the room up

4/7/11 mornig and afternoon

in the morning

i came late but in class everyone was working on the arduino and with the arduino'
everyone was making electrical music
with a speaker on the arduino
and you could touch the resisters with your fingers and it made noises
you can also play micheal jackson beat it.
i didnt really get to play with arduino because i came late

in the afternoon
i was making a rose necklace
with rose earrings
a nd finding differnt ideas for my final project..
one of the rose was gonna be
white , clear. and black..
me and my mentor sofy was expertinmenting with different colors
hopefully by the end of the class i shall have them.
white and clear and red.

Morning
  • we use the program called scratch
  • we worked on creating our own game
  • we made sprites
  • we worked on back rounds for our game
  • we worked on different commands
Afternoon
  • i worked on my final project
  • i went to www.instructables.com to find my final project

  • i used ink scape to help me out with my project
  • this is what i made
  • we listened to mississippi john hurt
  • we had open lab
morning 1. we learned about sounds 2. what is sound? sound is like are like waves in the air 3. we made sounds with the arduino by sending square waves to a speaker 4. you used the tone library to play different sounds 5. we used a light sensor to change the pitch of the sound and a potentiometer to change the speed of the beats. YO! :). 6. i had a blast :-D afternoon 1. we had open lab 2. i choose to start my final project 3. i went to www.instructables.com 4. my final project is http://www.instructables.com/id/Edge-Lit-Mobile-Night-Light/ 5. we dance YMCA :) but Shane and I didnt do it becuase we cool like that

4-7-11

: This morning we worked with arduino
: We did a simplified theremin
: Its an instrument that has 2 antennas to figure out where your hands are in relationship to the antennas
: Then uses this to measure the height of your hands to the volume
: We used a photocell to measure the light instead of the antennas

: This afternoon we had Open lab
: After Carlos told us to do open lab we started separating into groups with teachers
: I finished my model of my tree guard
: While i was making my model, Andrew from school was taking pictures
: I then finished my model and made a tree for it

4/7/11

  • this morning we were working on Scratch
  • Jose showed us how to use scratch with the different tools like motion, looks, sound, pen, control, sensing, operators, and variables.
  • It was hard to do but Jose showed me an easy way. He showed me how to use the control, motion, looks, and the different scripts and costumes.
  • Scratch is like making a cartoon show.
  • there are different things you could do in Scratch. I will tell you but i didn't get there yet.

  • this afternoon I worked on a sig that was hard to make.
  • I tried to work on a sonic sig and i couldn't get it to work but my cousin is going to show me how to do it
  • I looked up how to make a sig on Youtube but the they keep telling me something wrong.
  • after that i was just playing around with Inkscape. I was just taking images from X-men, spongebob, and sonic.
  • then, i was just looking at the different things that you could do in gimp.
In the morning we made a beat out of electricity
-I was late so i didn't know what happened early in the morning
-When i was there we used the arduino to make sounds with the electricity
-We used little speakers to hear them
-We used different patterns to make different sounds

In the afternoon I created a chain
-Me and my partner Jorge created chains he did a design of A87 and i did a design of iKTO
-Carlos worked really hard to make my design because it was very difficult to make.
-Today was a good day and even though it was a little rainy everyone did what they had to
-I also used the laser cutter and learned how to use Illustrator

April,07,2011

Morning

  • Today what we did was learn how to make and animate objects in a program called Scratch.
  • Jose taught us how to edit figures and animate them to move all types of directions.
  • Jose discussed how to design the background and how to add effects.
  • The affects contain the image moving around and turning.
  • You can also add some sound effects like beats, horns, animals, and other creatures.
  • We talked about final projects and discussed some ideas we could do.
  • My idea for a final project would be to make a replica of the Museum Of Natural History.
Afternoon

  • This afternoon Carlos told us that we were doing open lab again.
  • He told us to split up into our groups and to talk to our mentor about what we were going to do this afternoon.
  • Carlos gave us options on what we could be doing.
  • Some of the options that we were told is that we could continue working on our tree guard projects, another was to do anything like laser cut, and work on what we did in the morning.
  • I chose to do a laser cut of anything I wanted to make.
  • I got to finish it and it came out looking like the image above this text.
  • The rest of the time I was just walking around the classroom and doing nothing until we had to do our blogs.
  • And that is what I did in greenfab today.

Thursday April 7,2011

In the morning, we used scratch. We made our own characters, mine was a hippo that I named "hippy". Hippy had leaf wings and i also learned how to change the colors of things. And also i learned how to make hippy move in certain ways and place him where i wanted. He couldn't really do anything because we didn't get that far. But we learned how to create many backgrounds. I made several backgrounds such as : an under water one and a mountain top. Andrew showed use basically a video of a cat that walked off the edge of something and died, he did it using the scratch program.
In the afternoon, we worked independently. At first i messed around with the scratch program. I wanted to get used to the controls and stuff. Then i later went on the website " instruct-ables".
That website helps you to see things you can make and basically how to instructions on it. I am stuck between either a night light made a LED lights or a noise tube. The night light I know is possible to make here but I'm not completely sure if the noise tube is. The tube works by you saying one thing into one side and the sound comes out the other. I thought it was really cool. and the night light would be useful because of my irrational fear of the dark.

4/5

So today I came in pretty late because I woke up late and it didnt help that the bus driver stopped the bus and waited for another bus driver to take his place. When I got here everyone was trying to come up with ideas for their final project. After lunch, everyone got into groups to work on ideas for tree guards. I had a pretty hard time coming up with anything but at the end of the day I have three ideas for the tree guards. The first idea I came up with is a long cylindrical shaped tree guard that is about 6 feet tall and 3 inches thick and is also clear so that you are able to see the tree. My second idea is almost the same but with light bulbs on the inside. My third idea is a cylindrical shape but with different characters on it just to make it ore interesting. Thats all that consisted of my day :)

4/5/11

  • this mornig we were learning how to use the program scatch

  • all i learn how to do was change the backround

  • i realy didnt wont to use this promgram

  • i didnt see the point in doing useing it in the futureso

  • i sat on the other side of the room and listend to my ipod

  • in the afternoon we finished owr tree guard models

  • i traced out 3 cardboard circles

  • my idea for a tree guard is a circle shaped figure with columns sticking oout from the sides

  • i still need to finish the structure model

  • and the i need to scale my model correctly

april.5,2011

this morning i...

  • saw crackheads outside the door and they were staring at me some type of way so i...

  • came inside saw alex we went back outside and walked around the block

  • thought about my final project

  • sent lori the link to my project

  • gunna make a laser trip wire that will snap photos of who/what set it off

this afternoon i...

  • waited for mike

  • thought i was going to leave early

  • attemped to make my treegaurd model better

  • wanted to make it smaller and line up the windows

  • started cutting the peices of the new model treegaurd

4/5/11

Morning-
  • We went on SCRATCH.MIT.edu and played some games

Morning *This morning we learned about a site called scratch.mit.edu and we played some games on the site *The site helps you learn about different types of programing such as: arduino and proccessing *The games that are on the scratch website were made by kids that are my age and older *Afterwards we got off the computers and went to the tables and started to talk about final projects *I told the mentor that I wanted to make a portable nintendo arcade Afternoon *We continued to talk about developing our tree guards and the designs *I continued to make my sidewalk with two trash cans and a tree guard *I finished early and started to make my tree out of copper wire *Afterwards I started to clean my area and started to listen to my ipod *My mentor had split us up into three groups so that each one would have a mentor

4/4/11`

Morning
  • Today what we did was learn about a website called scratch.
  • Scratch is a website that has games, videos and photos that people made using Audrino and another program that i do not know the name of.
  • After we were done using the computers Andrew told us if we had ideas for our final projects and i replied no.
  • Most of my classmates did not have ideas of what they were going to make.
  • After that we were only talking about the supplies that we were going to need to make our final projects.
  • Then i told Andrew that i had an idea for a project and i said i was thinking of making a 3d replica of the Museum of Natural History.
Afternoon

  • After lunch Carlos told us we were going to keep working on our tree guard Design challenge.
  • Me and Wil were working on our own tree guards that we will make if chosen next month.
  • Carlos was helping me out with my 3d model of my tree guard and gave me a useful tip.
  • The supplies i used was a tongue suppressor,a pen, a pencil, copper wire(not really necessary), a hot glue gun, and pieces of cardboard.
  • Carlos used a tongue suppressor to make a circle on a piece of card board and told me to put cotton swabs in the holes and hot glue it together to look like the outside face of a tree guard.
  • After that it took me one hour and thirty minutes to finish that piece of my model.
  • Finally Carlos told us to do our blogs and go home after we were done with it.

Monday April 4,2011

In the morning, we learned about a website called scratch. It helps you to create your own games. You can also share your games on this site. We got to play other people's creations. Some we thought were cool, others we thought were lame because they had wack graphics or because the game wasn't fun. Jose tried to teach us how to create our own game. But since we didn't have the program that allowed us to do that, we changed topic to our final projects. Some of us had ideas, i want to make either a lamp for my room or a night light.
In the afternoon, We finished making our physical models for our tree guards. Mine was already done so i decided to do really nothing. Because i was in a bad mood. But luckily i had already finished, But i did think of ways to modify my project. I didn't actually execute them though.

4/4/11

morning 1. we talked about projects 2. we went to instructables.com 3. i don't have any idea what I want to do 4. i did like some projects i seen 5. i probably do a edge lit moblie/ night light or a two sided heart neckleace or maybe something else. afternoon 1. we contined working on the tree guard 2. we did different methods 3. we used the same designed as last time but different materials 4. i used cardboard and copper wire 5. i just started wit my model but i didn't get to finish it

4-4-11

Morning

  • we talked about scratch

  • we talked about final project

  • we played games on scratch

  • scratch is a program that allows people to make games and animations

  • Justify Fullwe also thought about what we were going to do for our final project

Afternoon

  • we worked on our tree guards

  • we had to split up into teams and work sepreatly which i dont understand

  • we also designing our tree guards

  • me and emma used the same design but different methods

  • i almost fininshed my little model of my tree guard but couldnt i didnt have enough time

4-4-11

: This morning we used instructables
: Instructables was used to look for projects
: Jaymes then told us to email him materials
: I found 1 good project but, Jaymes wanted me to practically change the project so i begun to look for something else
: I searched 100+ pages and didn't find any other project I liked

: This afternoon Carlos talked & broke us into new groups because there were more students then teachers today
: He talked about site models and making tree guards for them
: We worked on sketch up models
: We made a small scaled model
: After we made the small scaled models we cleaned up

4-4-11

  • FIRST we came in and waited for everyone to get here.
  • then James told us to take out a computer
  • we then started thinking about our finial project.
  • then we went to intsructables.com and looked up different activities and projects people did.
  • i picked my project i am going to make a lamp.
  • In the afternoon we listend to Carlos talk about us building out tree gaurds.
  • he had to explain it to me more because i wasn't here on Thursday.
  • then i took out all my supplies and started building.
  • i had some extra time so i made a tree.
  • i didnt like how it came out because i ruined it with the hot glue gun.

4.4.11

  • hello, Andrew talked about what we are going to do for our final projects.
  • he was sasking what are the different materials
  • we could use cardboard and other materials
  • Jose was showing us a website that's called http://scratch.mit.edu/
  • there are games, imagine, and other programs that other people use
  • this afternoon Carlos had talked to me about the different trees guards
  • i had made a model that look like a this ------------------------------------------>
  • i had to take 16 copper wire and 2 cardboard box
  • I had to cut a circle out of a cardboard box and cut a squared
  • i had to drill 16 hole to put the 16 copper wire

4/4/11

In the morning we started looking for projects
-I decided for my final project to create a car robot that is controlled by a wii nunchuck
-I ended up giving a list of things i will need for this project
-Jaymes will buy a 2 nunchucks for the project
-I will be programing it and hacking the nunchuck

In the afternoon we continued on with our tree guard project
-I managed to finish a sketch model of how it will look
-I used a hot glue gun and some wires
-Today was a productive day once again everyone did there work
-I made my model and made like a spiral wires going around it

4/4

morning class with Jaymes
-today we had to get set up on our final projects
-Jaymes went around to everyone questioning about which project for us to design
-jaymes informed me to go on the website www.instructables.com to fiigure out which project to decide on
-after a long dreadful few minutes of searching something of my intrest, which is drumming
-after all the research i still haven't found a project Im interested in

afternoon class with Andrew and Carlos
-Carlos and andrew proposed a lesson of the continuation of the tree gaurd design challenge
-i made sketches of an idea we would have to make an efficient useful tree gaurd
-i used copper and cardboard to create the model of the tree gaurds we had in mind
-the idea behind my tree gaurd is to prevent civilians from using it as if it were a garbage can
-in the end of class i created a useful sketch model to create the idea for viewers to see what am i creating

4/4.11

  • Today we had to start working on our final project.
  • We got on instructables.com
  • Later on we looked through projects to see which we would choose.
  • I looked through over 100 pages of projects.
  • I may have found one that interest me but I'm still unsure.
  • The project I am thinking about is a super mario coin box.

  • This afternoon we continued on working on tree guards.
  • I looked through my sketchup models.
  • I built tree guard models with materials using my 3D sketchup model.
  • I used cardboard, tape, and a box cuter to make my sketch model.
  • Next Thursday i will work on a scaled model.

4-4-11

  • In the morning i was late so i missed the 1st part.
  • We was playing game on online.
  • We was looking for example of scratch that people made.
  • At the end we was talking about our final project.
  • I don't know yet what im gonna do for ma final project.

  • In the after noon session we was continue working on our tree guards.
  • The design i made last week i lost it so i had to made a another design.
  • So i made a tree guard on sketch up then i put a tree on it.
  • At the end when i was continuing to work on ma tree guard, from nowhere ma computer got shut down.
  • so no pictures this time i have to make it again next week.

4-4-11

MORNING
  • THIS MORNING JOSE INTRODUCED US TO SCRATCH
  • SCRATCH IS A PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS US TO MAKE SIMPLE LOW GRAPHIC GAMES
  • WE CAN USE A TEXT DIALOG WITH THE COMPUTER SIMILAR TO PROCESSING AND ARDUINO
  • WITH EACH COMMAND AN ACTION HAPPENS
  • WE ARE DOWNLOADING SCRATCH AND PLAN TO USE IT BY THURSDAY
AFTERNOON
  • THIS AFTERNOON WE BROKE INTO OUR GROUPS
  • EACH GROUP HAD TO WORK ON INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS
  • OUR NEW PROJECT IS MAKE TREE GUARDS FOR OUR SITE MODELS
  • I MADE A SKETCH AND THEN A PHYSICAL MODEL
  • NOW I HAVE TO SCALE IT DOWN

Mourning
-Had a group discussion on lap joints
- Lap Joints are when pieces interlock to make a shape
-Made a Lap Joint of a sphere
-Made Shapes to Cut out
-had to figure where the slots should be to fit the shapes

Afternoon
-Had a Discussion

-Sketch for my tree guard
-Cut out the sketch
-Worked with Carlos to make sketches
-Researched the Tree guards

April 1, 2011

Morning ~
  • Talked about what Lap Joints are
  • talked about how to make a lap joint
  • Lap joints are when pieces interlock to make a shape
  • We made a lap joint of a pyramid
  • Made a lap joint of a sphere
Afternoon~

  • went on Google sketch-up and made a tree guard
  • made a sketch of my tree guards
  • made a new tree out of wire
  • started to make my tree guard
  • cut out the pieces for it and cleaned

April 1, 2011

~~Morning~~
  • We were introduced to a new method of making models
  • We learned the reason why lap models are a good way to make models better, this method is easier because the pieces interlock into each other without having to glue the pieces together
  • After we created 3 different types of lap models, some with more pieces than the other.
  • i created a circle, a triangle, and a shape i'm not quiet familiar with.
~~Afternoon~~
  • i brainstormed what my tree guard would look like if i was to make it
  • Afterward i drew a sketch of the idea i had
  • Then i measured my site model so when i construct my tree guard it would fit into my site model
  • After i drew 4 pieces exactly the same and cut them out of cardboard
  • Then i glued mesh at the backs of the pieces to make it look better and it can be used as a way to keep out animals and people
  • Afterward i placed my tree guard in my site model and glued the pieces together.

Green Fab - day 4

this morning i;

- practiced programming on arduino

- made an LED blink using a potientiometer

-observed the rate at which the LED blinked using the arduino program

-changed the rate of the LEDs blinking

-connected an arduino to a breadboard

This afternoon;

-sketched out tree guard ideas

-transfered the idea from sketch to google sketch-up

-discussed some ideas with Andrew

-practiced drawing on google sketch-up

-illustrated what the tree guard is used for in my sketch.

4/1/11

this morning we made lap joint models we made a sphere and an pyramid with the joint model we had to cut out 2 equal parts (depending on the model) then we had to cut slits on the top af one shape and one on the bottem of the other one a lap joint is when two twin notches are out of two different peices.

  • -this afternoon i made a 3d sketch up model

  • of a tree guard

  • -each student was assigned a teacher

  • -i was assigned Lin/Paul

  • -My tree guard was a cylinder with chicken wire covering the top

  • -I also made a model out of cardboard and on screen.

March 1st

This morning in Green Fab

  • we connected a BreadBoard to an arduino

  • we used red wires for power, black wires for ground, and green wires for buttons/knobs.

  • we went over Anolog resistors again

  • then we connected a potentiometer and an LED.

  • then we made the LED's dim or brighten by using the potentiometer.

This afternoon in Green Fab

  • we went over tree guards.

  • individually we worked on our own tree guard design.

  • i started by going on inkscape and starting the tree guard design.

  • i made a few sketches and chose my measurements.

  • then i scaled it down but i didn't get to finish because we ran out of time.

april 1, 2011

this morning i...

  • did some work with arduinos

  • made a led blink at differnt speeds with a knob

  • learned how to change programing of a arduino

  • james left early (i dont know why)

  • used the knob as a dimmer for a led

this afternoon i...

  • did more work on surveys

  • did a sketch-up model of my tree gaurd

  • did a sketch of my tree gaurd

  • made a model of my tree gaurd

  • laughed at vickii for falling for mikes prank

4/1/11

Morning-
  • We made a Lap Joint Model of a cone
  • We made a Lap Joint Model of a Sphere
  • We pissed off Jose
  • We used Cardboard and Box cutters to make the Lap Joint Models
  • We needed to make sure the slits were not too wide so the two pieces would fit together perfectly.
Afternoon-
  • We Made a tree out of wire
  • We Sketched a model for a tree-guard
  • We Made a model of our sketches on Google Sketch-up
  • Mike pranked me with Pizza :'( LOL
  • Made A model of our tree guard with Cardboard.
