March 1st

This morning we...

  • Went over the do's and don'ts of soldering. such as don't hand a soldering iron to to anyone put it back in its holster and let them get it.
  • learned the difference between a chip board and a bread board. a chip board can have things soldered onto it it a bread board can't. a bread board is more like a prototype.
  • soldered resistors onto a chip board.
  • learned how to keep a soldering iron in good condition by always making sure that the tip is silver.
  • and the importance of soldering

This afternoon we...

  • had two guests from NASA come over and explain to us why we should get an internship in NASA
  • learned why does NASA needs new young people to work in their facilities. one of these reasons are because 60% of the people in NASA are old enough to retire.
  • learned about a meteor that is circling the earth and how close it is to hitting us.
  • saw different ways on how to make the meteor avoid hitting the earth. the Russians think we should just blow it up. but a scientist in america thinks we should send a special type of space shuttle that will use the power of gravity to direct the meteor in a diferent direction.
